Windows Server Standard

Ideal for physical or minimally virtualised environments. Benefit from Core Windows Server functionality, Hybrid integration, 2 OSEs/Hyper-V Containers, unlimited Windows Server containers, Host Guardian Service and Storage Replica.

Windows Server Essentials

Ideal for small businesses with up to 25 users and 50 devices.

Windows Server Datacentre

Ideal for highly virtualised datacentres and cloud environments. Above the Standard Edition, benefit from Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, unlimited OSEs/Hyper-V containers, Shielded VMs, Software defined networking and storage.

Windows Server External Connector

Purchase this if you want to allow external users to access your server software.

Windows Server Remote Desktop Services

Allows your users remote access to on-premises resources.

Windows Server Remote Desktop Services External Connector

Purchase this if you want external users to be able to access a single Remote Desktop server. If you have multiple servers you will need multiple external connectors in addition to any required Windows Server External Connectors.

Windows Server Rights Management External Connector

The Microsoft Rights Management (RMS) connector lets you quickly enable existing on-premises servers to use their Information Rights Management (IRM) functionality with the cloud-based Microsoft Rights Management service (Azure RMS). With this functionality, IT and users can easily protect documents and pictures both inside your organization and outside, without having to install additional infrastructure or establish trust relationships with other organisations.
